  • AI Saturdays session 1

A Saturday morning. A full classroom. Sixty curious minds.

By Li Lei in July 18, 2026

RTAI’s AI Saturdays Program, organized in collaboration with CAST-NC, opened in RTP with students, parents, and community members gathering to explore how AI can help young people report stories, create videos, and express their ideas.

From the very beginning, the room was alive with energy. Students leaned forward, parents listened closely, and questions kept coming.

Athena Xu brought news reporting to life, showing students how to prepare interviews, organize real stories, and use AI to support clear, responsible writing. John Guo turned imagination into motion, demonstrating how prompts can become scenes and how scenes can become short films.

But the real highlight was the students.

They were not just listening — they were thinking, questioning, and creating. Their questions about prompts, interviews, video editing, authenticity, copyright, and storytelling showed exactly why youth AI education matters.

AI is not only changing technology. It is changing how the next generation learns, communicates, and creates.

This was just the first session of the six-week AI Saturday Classroom for teens ages 13–18. Upcoming sessions will cover vibe coding, web development, app design, data storytelling, and AI-assisted learning.

This collaboration reflects a shared commitment: to bring practical, responsible, and creative AI education to local families, and to help young people become thoughtful creators in the AI era.

A full room. Bright questions. Big imagination.

That is what the future of AI education looked like this Saturday morning.
